The Noble Goat is of utmost importance in Haiti. He is one of the primary protein sources and at 2nd Story Goods, we use the hide leftover to make many of our beautiful leather products! If you’ve ever gotten the chance to visit Haiti, chances are you saw dozens of goats spread out all over the place. We think Mr. Noble Goat is worth celebrating, and plus he’s just super cute, so we made him his very own ornament!
Over the course of several days, locally sourced dry clay is made into a moldable form, kneaded into shape, kiln-fired, glazed and fired again. The group started with just 2 people who used 50 cents to buy some clay and a bowl to use as a kiln. Today, our clay group, made up of 14 people, supports up to 20 families in Gonaives. A true redemptive story of starting with what you have and watching it multiply!
