Make and Take Sessions

Planning a trip to Haiti and looking for activities to do by yourself or with a group? Look no further than our Make and Take sessions at our home base in Gonaives! With these classes, you will get to sit side by side with one of our artisans as you learn to make a one of a kind piece of art. The best part? After you make it, you get to take it home! This is an awesome opportunity to get to learn something new, participate in a cultural exchange, support job creation in Haiti, AND make your very own souvenir so you can remember it forever. These sessions are often among people’s favorite memories from their trip to Haiti. We can also arrange to have lunch and fresh juice prepared for you if you are interested! Choose from the class options below.

Jewelry Making: We supply the materials and the tools and our Makers to help with design and technique. Each student will leave with their original piece of work!

Traditional Haitian Folk art Painting:  Paint, brushes, canvas and instructors provided to give students an opportunity to create their own traditional Folk Art piece to take home!

Design and create your own shirt: Students will cut and pin fabric using recycled pieces to create their own unique garment! They will have the opportunity to try the treadle powered sewing machines! ( if they want to) Our sewing team will be there to lead and help along the way. 

Wind Chimes:  Students will have tossed glass, stones, shells and assorted beads to create their very own wind chime! It will be a masterpiece! 

Pricing: $25 per student. $20 each for groups of 10 or more
